Akshay returns to action after 10 yrs

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Rowdy Rathore  will be an out-and-out action thriller

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is bringing back Akshay Kumar to doing what he does the best -- delivering action flicks. His next project, Rowdy Rathore is co-produced by designer Shabinaa Khan, who has dressed stars like Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan in the past. The out-and-out action film starring Akshay and Sonakshi Sinha, is being directed by Prabhudeva. A source said, "Rowdy Rathore is expected to break the stereotypical boundaries of action genre. It will see Akshay get back to the space in which he remains undefeated -- hardcore action! Audiences have loved him in action sequences. In fact in Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om, Akshay's gun sequence was one of the most-loved scenes in the film.

Ready for action: Akshay Kumar will have to undergo special training

The actor will undergo rigorous physical training in preparation for the film that will have top notch action and choreography. The producers and director are planning to put together an international action team for the fight sequences, including an ace action director from the south. Akshay will be training for three months before the shooting starts. He'll also be learning a special kind of martial art for that. Although he has one of the best physiques in B-Town today, for Rowdy Rathore he will require a leaner, muscular and toned body for which he will have to undergo training."

Producer Shabinaa said, "Rowdy Rathore is an action-packed script and we felt that only Akshay could do complete justice to the role. He hasn't starred in an out-and-out action film for the last 10 years, so Rowdy Rathore will bring him back into his space like never before." For Shabinaa who is producing a film for the first time it's an exciting proposition. "I'm very excited about my first production film and I am proud to have such a talented team on board. I hope audiences love the film too."

However, for Bhansali, producing action film would be a new experience. "An action film is a totally alien concept for me. At this juncture as a filmmaker, I want to move out of the comfort zone and do things that are new and untried," he admitted.

Mr Khiladi
Akshay Kumar has so far starred in many action flicks like Khiladi, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Mohra, Sabse Bada Khiladi, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, Sangharsh, Jaanwar, Blue. Interestingly, all his action movies with the name 'Khiladi' have been superhits.
